Privacy Policy

Who this covers

This policy covers jdaitken.ca, operated by JD Media (JD Aitken, sole proprietor, Ottawa, Ontario). It doesn't cover client websites JD Media builds and manages — each of those has its own privacy policy.

What's collected

Two kinds of information: what you submit through a form, and what your browser sends automatically while you're on the site.

• Form submissions. Name, email, phone number, and any message you type into the contact form, the site audit request, or the outreach form. These are sent to Formspree, a third-party form processing service, and delivered to jd@jdaitken.ca. Formspree's own privacy policy is at formspree.io/legal/privacy-policy.
• Analytics. Google Analytics (GA4) records page views, general location (city-level), device type, and how you arrived at the site (e.g. search, a link, an ad).
• Advertising. If you arrive from a Google or Meta (Facebook/Instagram) ad, or if a page includes their tracking pixels, Google Ads and the Meta Pixel record that visit so ad performance can be measured and, for past visitors, so ads can be shown again elsewhere (retargeting).

Why it's collected

To reply to your message, to understand which pages and ads are working, and to spend ad budget on what actually brings in real inquiries rather than guessing.

Who it's shared with

Form data goes to Formspree (processing) and then to JD directly by email — it isn't sold or shared with anyone else. Analytics and advertising data is shared with Google (GA4, Google Ads) and Meta (Meta Pixel) under their own privacy terms, which JD Media doesn't control.

Your choices

You can block analytics and ad tracking in your browser (most browsers have a "block third-party cookies" or "do not track" setting, and ad blockers work too). You can also manage how Google and Meta use your data directly:

Declining tracking doesn't affect your ability to use the site or submit a form — it only affects how your visit is measured.

Data retention

Form submissions are kept as long as needed to respond to you and for basic business recordkeeping, then deleted. Analytics and ad platform data retention is set by Google and Meta under their own policies.
